Partners can have different preferences.
One person may enjoy something that the other only likes occasionally.
One may want more variety.
Another may prefer routine.
That doesn’t automatically indicate incompatibility.
The key is whether you can negotiate respectfully.
Compromise does not mean forcing yourself to do something you don’t want.
A healthy compromise might mean:
“Sometimes we do what you enjoy, and sometimes we choose something I prefer.”
Consent should remain mutual every time.
16. If He Refuses Any Variation, Ask Why
Occasional preference is one thing.
A strong insistence on one specific position every single time is different.
It doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem, but it may be worth asking what he likes about it.
Keep the question curious rather than accusatory.
Try:
“What do you like most about that position?”
That’s much better than:
“Why do you always insist on doing it that way?”
The first invites conversation.
The second sounds like criticism.
