I Waited Seven Years for Him to Marry Me, Only for Him to Abandon Me When I Became Pregnant—Two Years Later, He Returned Begging for a Second Chance

It was not a magical reunion.

She did not suddenly throw her arms around him, and he did not instantly become the perfect father.

But he kept his voice gentle. He listened when she spoke. When she wanted to leave, he did not insist that she stay.

At the end of the meeting, Grace held up her drawing.

“Look! This is our house.”

Daniel smiled sadly.

“It’s beautiful.”

“And this is Mummy. And this is me.”

She pointed to two figures holding hands.

Daniel studied the paper.

“Where am I?”

Grace thought about it.

“I don’t know yet.”

The words were innocent, but they struck him deeply.

I saw it in his face.

For the first time, he seemed to understand that he was not returning to a family that had been waiting for him.

He was meeting a child who had already begun building her world without him.
