I Compared His Size to My Ex — He Sent Me a Measuring Tape and Divorce Papers

Marcus looked exactly the same, tall, confident, with that easy smile that had first attracted me to him back in college. He moved through the room like he owned it, drawing attention without even trying.

I tried to act normal, to pretend his presence didn’t affect me, but David noticed immediately. He always noticed when something was wrong.

David kept glancing between Marcus and me, his jaw getting tighter each time he caught me looking in my ex’s direction. When Marcus came over to say hello, introducing himself to David with that confident handshake, I could practically feel the tension radiating from my husband.

The conversation was perfectly polite. Marcus congratulated us on our marriage, mentioned that he was happy to see me doing well, but I could see David cataloging every word, every glance, every moment of interaction.

We left the party early, David claiming he had a headache. The drive home was silent except for the radio, both of us lost in our own thoughts.
