I Caught My Roommate Red-Handed in My Fridge, but She Denied Everything – What I Left There the Next Day Made Her Scream

I bought one container.

Same brand as the ones on my shelf.

Same size.

That night, after Mara and Kayla had gone to their rooms, I stood at the kitchen counter under the light over the stove.

It took about ten minutes.

When I was finished, I put the container on the middle shelf at eye level.

I turned the label outward so Kayla would see it the second she opened the refrigerator.

Then, I went to bed and left my bedroom door open.

For a while, nothing happened.

Midnight passed.

Then 1:00 A.M.

I was beginning to think I’d wasted my time.

At 1:40 A.M., I heard it.

The refrigerator door opened.

I sat up.

A few seconds passed.

Then, I heard the container open.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

I almost smiled.

I’d filled that container with every grocery receipt I’d saved.

I’d circled the missing food.

The yogurt.

The chicken.

The snacks.

Everything Kayla had told me I’d probably eaten and forgotten.

On top of the receipts, I’d placed a note.

“Since you’re going through my food, I put a special surprise in it.”

At the bottom, I’d written one more line.

“Now tell me again that I imagined it.”
