That is the whole of it. A grown man of thirty-eight, with two children, who did a thing for about ninety seconds that he cannot undo, because his mother had spent six months describing a woman who did not exist and he had never once checked.
He pleaded guilty to false imprisonment in the June. He got a suspended sentence and a community order.
He has written to Maia twice. She has not answered and is not going to, and she has said he is entitled to keep writing.
The other four did nothing, which is its own thing and which I have had to find a place for. My aunt Paulette has told four separate people that Maia “got herself worked up”, and she said that after she had seen those photographs.
What happened to my mother.
She was arrested on the twenty-second of November, 2025, two days after.
She was charged in the February with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Not for the bones — for the October, the chest of drawers, which is the one with medical evidence attached, because a radiographer in 2025 can see an old injury on a scan and write it down.
She pleaded not guilty. The trial was in the September of this year. She was convicted on one count and acquitted on another.
