I almost gave up. Then my phone lit up

 THE MESSAGE

Months later, David and I were sitting in the same apartment.

The same couch.

The same photograph.

But everything felt different.

My phone buzzed.

It was a message from someone I barely knew.

It said:

“I don’t know why, but I needed to read this today.”

I stared at those words for a long time.

Then I looked at David.

“Do you remember that night?”

He smiled.

“I remember.”

I looked down at my phone.

“Someone might be going through what I went through.”

David nodded.

“Then tell them what you learned.”

So I’m telling you now.

If you’re struggling, please don’t believe the voice that tells you nobody cares.

Sometimes people care more than you realize.

Sometimes they simply don’t know you’re hurting.

Tell someone.

Call someone.

Sit beside someone.

Ask for professional help.

And if you’re reading this while carrying something you haven’t told anyone about, please stay.

You don’t have to figure out your entire future tonight.

Just make it through this moment.

Then the next one.

Then the next.

Because I once thought my story was ending.

It wasn’t.

It was the moment someone finally noticed I needed help.

And nobody noticed the second key.

I did.

I was still holding it.
