Daniel’s jaw tightened.
“I want to walk into that hotel and drag him out.”
“I know.”
“I want to look at her and ask how she could stand beside me at our wedding knowing she was sleeping with my father.”
“I know, sweetheart.”
“Then why aren’t we doing something?”
I took a deep breath.
“Because I want us to be able to protect ourselves when we do.”
He stared at me for a long time.
Finally, he nodded.
That evening, sitting beside my father’s grave, we made a decision that would change the rest of our lives.
We would not warn them.
We would not threaten them.
And we would not give them the opportunity to destroy the evidence before we understood what had happened.
We would find out the truth, protect ourselves, and confront them when we were ready.
Neither of us realized how much more we were about to discover.
