“If Vittorio comes back, it means he believes those records are still here.”
The recording ended.
The detective looked at Camilla.
“Did you find any original property records in the box?”
“Yes. But I haven’t examined them.”
They spread the documents across the table.
Some were old deeds. Others were handwritten notes and copies of correspondence.
One document bore the signature of Camilla’s grandfather.
Another appeared to show that a neighboring property had been transferred to a company that no longer existed.
The detective photographed everything.
“If these are authentic, they may explain why someone has been trying to enter your house.”
Camilla stared at the papers.
Her father had spent years keeping this secret.
