“Did you tell her about us?”
“What do you mean?”
“Our marriage. The problems we’ve been having.”
“Michael, I told her the truth.”
His jaw tightened.
“What truth?”
“That we’ve never had fertility testing. That you’ve always said my body was the reason we couldn’t have children.”
He stepped closer.
“You had no right to discuss our private life with a stranger.”
“She’s my doctor.”
“You went behind my back.”
“I was in pain!”
My voice came out louder than I intended.
For a moment, I didn’t recognize myself.
Michael looked equally surprised.
Then his expression changed.
“You have no idea what you’ve done.”
He walked past me, went upstairs, and slammed the bedroom door.
That night, he refused to speak to me.
At eight o’clock, I heard him moving around in the bedroom.
At nine, he came downstairs.
He sat beside me on the sofa and reached for my hands.
