“Kylie?” my father answered on the second ring, his tone shifting immediately. “What happened?”
“Dad, I need you to destroy him,” I whispered into the quiet air, unable to summon a loud sob.
There was a heavy silence on the line as my father processed my words. Philip Hamilton was not a man easily startled, having built Hamilton Global Enterprise from one aging office building in Phoenix into a national real estate empire without ever raising his voice unless the room was already lost.
“Are you safe right now?” he asked with absolute precision.
“Yes, I am completely safe,” I answered softly.
“Is Hunter there in the apartment with you?” he asked next.
“Not yet,” I replied.
“Then listen to me very carefully,” my father instructed firmly. “You are not going to confront him tonight, nor are you going to accuse him, cry in front of him, or threaten him. You cannot give him the version of you he can use against you later.”
“He is having an affair with Isabelle,” I explained, closing my eyes tightly. “She is pregnant, and he explicitly said he is divorcing me after he gets the ten million dollars from you.”
“He is referring to the investment in his firm,” my father stated quietly.
