They had believed that if they were careful enough, no one would discover the truth.
But the truth had found me on an airplane.
It had followed me into a hotel lobby.
And it had finally brought me home to myself.
I never sent Megan another message.
I never asked Ryan to explain the photographs.
I didn’t need to know every intimate detail of their affair to understand what they had chosen to do.
I also refused to share those photographs or turn them into public humiliation. Their betrayal was painful enough without making someone else’s private images part of it.
Instead, I kept the evidence I needed, sought advice about my marriage, and focused on protecting my children and my future.
The silver bracelets eventually went into a small box at the back of my closet.
I didn’t throw them away.
They belonged to a chapter of my life that had once been beautiful, even if it ended in heartbreak.
