The moment the plane landed, Noah didn’t wait for the other passengers.
He stood, took my bag, and said quietly:
“Stay close to me.”
I held Lily against my chest.
“What about my luggage?”
“I’ve got it.”
We walked through the airport with hundreds of people around us.
Yet somehow, I felt more exposed than ever.
Noah kept looking behind us.
At one point, he suddenly stopped.
“What?”
He pointed toward a large window overlooking the terminal.
“See the man in the gray jacket?”
I looked.
A man was standing near a pillar, pretending to check his phone.
My stomach dropped.
“The same man from the plane?”
Noah nodded.
“Don’t look at him again.”
We kept walking.
“Where are we going?”
“To a safe location.”
“I don’t even know you.”
“You know enough.”
“No. I know your name, that you’re a billionaire, and that someone tried to kill you.”
Noah looked at me.
“That is already more than most people know.”
We reached an underground parking area.
A black SUV was waiting.
Noah opened the back door for me.
Before I got inside, my phone vibrated.
Ryan.
You should have listened when I told you to stay home.
My hands went cold.
Noah read the message over my shoulder.
This time, his expression changed completely.
“He knows where you are.”
I whispered:
“How?”
Noah looked at Lily.
Then at me.
“I think that’s the question we need to answer first.”
