Don’t Ignore Your Outlets and Cords

It’s not only the appliance that can cause trouble.

Take a close look at the electrical outlets and power cords in your kitchen.

If you notice burn marks, melted plastic, sparks, buzzing sounds, a burning smell, or an outlet that feels unusually hot, stop using it.

Damaged cords should also be replaced rather than repaired with makeshift solutions.

Avoid plugging too many high-powered appliances into the same outlet or power strip, especially appliances that produce heat.

And never leave an appliance operating while you’re asleep or away from home unless it is specifically designed and approved for that type of use.

A few seconds of checking before bed can help you spot a problem before it becomes much more serious.

But there is one more thing many people forget to do every night…
