My 14-year-old son grew out his hair to make a wig for his classmate who lost hers because of cancer #2

My Son Grew His Hair for Months to Help His Best Friend Fight Cancer—Then Her Father Called Me to School and Accused Him of Hiding Something Terrible

The first time I found chewing gum tangled in my fourteen-year-old son’s hair, I thought I was going to lose my temper.

The second time I found him sitting on the bathroom floor, carefully pulling strands apart with his fingers, I realized something was wrong.

But nothing prepared me for the morning his school called and told me to come immediately.

When I arrived, my son was sitting outside the principal’s office with his head lowered. Across from him stood the father of his best friend, a man whose face was pale with anger and exhaustion.

He pointed at my son.

“Your boy has been keeping things from me,” he said. “And I need to know exactly how much you know about what he’s been doing with my daughter.”
