When King Adrian first married Isabella, people across the kingdom spoke about her beauty.

She had long dark hair, a delicate figure, and a face so striking that palace artists constantly asked permission to paint her.

Adrian loved showing her off.

 

 

At royal dinners, he would sit beside her proudly and tell everyone:

“The most beautiful woman in the kingdom is my wife.”

But everything changed after the birth of their son.

The  pregnancy had been difficult.

Isabella nearly died during childbirth and spent weeks recovering in bed.

When she finally began walking through the palace again, her body had changed dramatically.

She had gained a great deal of weight.

At first, Adrian said nothing.

Then came the jokes.

“Are you really going to eat all of that?”

Isabella would quietly put down her spoon, even when she had barely touched her food.
