Leo’s heart raced.
The ingredients were unlike anything he had ever imagined.
- Morning dew gathered from one hundred flowers.
- Ice crystals from the highest mountain.
- Leaves from the Whispering Mint.
- Water from the Moon Spring.
- A berry that grows only once every fifty years.
- One heart filled completely with hope.
“The last ingredient…” Leo said quietly.
“How can I measure hope?”
The old woman smiled.
“You cannot.”
She closed the book.
“It must already live inside you.”
Before Leo could ask another question, she handed him a silver cooking pot.
“This belonged to the first Guardian Chef.”
“What happens if I fail?”
She looked toward the burning sky.
“The kingdom will never know rain again.”
Leo swallowed hard.
Then he began the greatest cooking journey in history.
